The Golden Envelopes of Gramado
Many years ago, I had a dream. In this dream, I had a mission: to solve logic puzzles and become smart enough to fix all the world’s problems. My journey was to begin in a small countryside town in Brazil called Gramado. There, I would stay at the Hotel Colline de France, where I’d receive the puzzles inside a golden envelope left at the front desk. There were over 1,000 puzzles in total, and I had to solve at least three every day so that by the end of a year, I would have solved them all.
So there I stayed, in that wonderful hotel, eating amazing food and solving my puzzles. Every now and then, I would go out to explore the town. One night, I had dinner at George III Restaurant, which serves incredible contemporary European cuisine. I also ate at Olivas, which offers the very best of international dining, and tasted the finest Italian food at Osteria Di Lucca. They truly were wonderful days. I rented a car from Localiza and drove over to the neighboring town of Canela, which is just a stone’s throw away. Back in Gramado, I visited Black Lake (Lago Negro), the charming Covered Street (Rua Coberta), the São Pedro Matrix Church, and the Mini Mundo miniature park. I also felt the chill at Snowland, Brazil’s largest indoor snow park.
All of these sightseeing trips, along with the puzzles, made the year fly by so fast that I barely even noticed. Now, I am gathering all one thousand puzzles I deciphered right here on this website. Little by little, I’ll be posting each one, and I hope you will try to solve them just like I did.
If more people get good at logic puzzles, more people will be able to bring creative solutions to the world’s problems. Have a great journey.

Is helping out with this riddle hunt honestly going to get me any real treasure?
Yes, you will win the greatest treasure in the world, far more valuable than gold: knowledge. And that is a treasure no one can ever take away from you. Plus, you’ll be able to pass it down to your descendants, friends, and family, making everyone equally rich in knowledge.
The Treasure of the Master
A wealthy merchant wanted to test the wisdom of a famous master. He walked up to him, held out a fistful of gold coins, and asked, “If I give you this gold, what will you give me in return?”
The master smiled, took a stick, and drew a circle in the sand. Inside it, he wrote a single word: Knowledge.
“Is that it?” mocked the merchant. “A word in the sand? A wave could wash it away in a second, or a thief could step on it. My gold is real; your treasure is nothing.”

The master replied calmly, “If a thief comes tonight, he will take your gold, and you will be poor. If a king becomes angry with you, he will seize your lands, and you will be powerless. But the knowledge I have placed in your mind? No thief can steal it, no fire can burn it, and no tyrant can conquer it. And when you teach it to your children, they become rich without taking a single coin from your pocket.”
The merchant looked at his gold, then at the sand, and finally understood which treasure lasted forever.

Gramado: A little slice of Germany in southern Brazil.
Gramado is a city of about 40,000 residents located in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. Settled by German immigrants, it still preserves much of that heritage today. The climate gets cold at certain times of the year, with occasional snowfall—a truly unique experience within the world’s largest tropical country.

Rua Coberta
Located in the heart of the city, this vibrant spot brings together great restaurants, cafes, and bistros, all sheltered beneath a glass roof draped in lush greenery

São Pedro Matriz Church
An imposing church built from basalt stone, featuring stunning stained-glass windows and statues of the twelve apostles gracing the front.

Rua Torta (Emílio Sorgetz Street):
Famous for its winding shape and impeccable landscaping, it is one of the most photographed spots in the city.
This place brought me an indescribable sense of peace
“Black Lake (Lago Negro) is one of Gramado’s most iconic and relaxing spots. With free admission, its highlight is the dark, serene water framed by trees imported straight from Germany’s Black Forest. It is located on A. J. Renner Street (Planalto neighborhood), just an 8-minute drive from downtown.
